This week I felt absolutely insane. Let’s see why!
Submissions
I submitted to a few things this week:
Youngblood at EST. (I almost missed the due date!)
And thankfully, all of these applications were free!
Projects
This week I worked on:
A new one act called Polt (3200 words)
A new ten minute play called At Three From the Tree (1300 words)
commissioned play for the youth club
Words Written
I wrote about 5000 words this week between the above projects!
Miscellaneous
This week, I got to do a few extra things that I don’t normally do. For one, I got to take a look at a colleague’s first draft of a new play! I got to annotate it and essentially stretch my playwriting teacher/dramaturg muscles, which was so fun, and I’m so honored that there are people out there who trust me with their newborn plays. This lovely project took about two hours.
I continued rehearsing for the theatre festival that I’m acting in, which (including solo memorizing and research) took up eight hours this week.
I have been working on creating a Playwriting 101 course for SkillShare, both as a way to boost my resume and as a way to actually teach what I want to be teaching. I’ve written up the whole syllabus and created the first four presentations (not recorded the videos yet though!). I’ve probably spent about five hours on it this week.
As always, I also did work for First Kiss Theatre. This week was pretty slow on that front though— only an hour or so.
And finally, I spent about two and a half hours on this SubStack this week!
Yikes guys, I think I know why I’m so tired all the time now (besides, you know, the crippling chronic illnesses).
What are you guys working on?? Let me know in the comments! I’m excited to hear about it. <3
Happy theatre-making!
